‘Orshina’s Requiem for “NOVA”‘ approaches the field of experimental music by combining a rich use of instruments, collaboration, and a well-defined artistic aim. Instead of treating its commemorative message as something distinct from the music, the album unites its musical and emotional goals. The focus on using a wide variety of instruments provides the project with a broad creative base, while its fundamental purpose gives direction to a work arising out of deep personal loss. The outcome is a collection of pieces that is not merely an exploration of sound but a statement regarding remembrance and the quest for healing.

Orshina’s method is shaped by a variety of creative influences such as Carbon Based Lifeforms, Pink Floyd, Infected Mushroom, Miktek, Shpongle, and Entheogenic. These influences provide a glimpse into the artistic environment surrounding the album without merely copying them. Rather, the project’s identity is based on the connection between its broad musical aspirations and the particular experience that inspired it; by setting a highly personal subject within an experimental musical context, Orshina aims to achieve a form of expression that goes beyond a simple narration of the events.

The process of making the recording involved both self-directed work and some extra production assistance. The majority of the album was produced in Orshina’s own professional studio, the drums and mixing being done at Leon Sound Pro. Furthermore, Maianne Tur the violinist, Roey Brosh the drummer, and the vocalists Idit Eshel and Shiran Tzfira all took part in the project, thus expanding the range of creative input. The fact that such details are known shows how collaborative the effort was in producing an album that had started out as a very personal experience but needed a number of different creative contributions to get to its final form.

“NOVA” was released on 7 October 2026 and in the end brings all of its various elements together with one definite aim – that of remembering those who have been lost and finding comfort in the face of devastation. According to Orshina’s account of how the album was put together, which was characterised by emotional breakdowns and exhaustion, there are considerable personal demands involved in the production. Yet the album’s artistic vision extends beyond the conditions under which it was created; its appeal based on the idea of “help me heal the world” gives the project a broader significance by linking musical exploration with a strong call for remembrance, hope, and collective healing.
