⭐️⭐️⭐️

I listened to Nick Boeder’s “Your Shadowed Doubts”and it stuck with me in a way few songs do. It’s a simple track—just two chords, B minor and D but simplicity here is a strength, not a limitation. There’s a quiet honesty in Nick’s voice that makes the song feel like a conversation rather than a performance. You can tell he’s writing from experience; he moved to Boulder in 2019 and was clearly processing some personal loss, and that reflection comes through in every line.

The production is subtle but thoughtful. Chris Beeble, who produced and arranged the track, adds guitar and bass in a way that complements Nick without taking over. Shane Zweygardt’s drums keep the rhythm moving without ever feeling heavy, and Sarah Joelle’s vocals floating in the background are a nice touch, they make certain moments hit a little harder emotionally. I read that Nick recorded the vocals without his guitar for the first time, which is interesting because it actually works, it makes his voice sound exposed and vulnerable in a way that fits the song perfectly.

You can hear influences like Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, and Nico Stai, but the song doesn’t feel like a copy of anyone. It’s very much Nick’s own story. The lyrics are straightforward but powerful, reflecting on loss and healing, and there’s a certain meditative quality to the two-chord repetition that really draws you in.

By the end, I found myself replaying it. It’s not flashy, it doesn’t have big hooks or production tricks, but it doesn’t need them. What it has is honesty, a human touch, and a story you can feel. “Your Shadowed Doubts” is the kind of song that lingers, and I think it says a lot about Nick as an artist, he’s someone who’s grown into his own voice and isn’t afraid to let it show.
