Bae Baracus return with Between 2 Worlds, a tightly wound three-track EP that feels less like a release and more like a snapshot of a band in constant motion. Instead, the trio lean into contrast, letting each track reveal a different shade of their electro-punk identity while maintaining a cohesive emotional thread.
The opening title track, “Between 2 Worlds,” sets the tone with surprising softness. Dreamy and atmospheric, it drifts along like a late-night walk through unfamiliar streets, wrapped in a haze of nostalgia and quiet wonder. Dolly De Guerre’s vocals feel intimate yet distant, perfectly matching the song’s theme of being suspended between places, emotions, and identities. That calm is quickly disrupted by “What Is This?”, an explosive electro-pop anthem that snaps the listener back to reality. Driven by punchy beats and a sly funk undercurrent, the track captures the chaos of overwhelming emotions with sharp precision. It’s catchy without losing its edge—an “in-your-face earworm” that balances confusion and attitude, all while demanding movement. This is where the band’s punk heart beats loudest, wrapped in dancefloor urgency.
Closing track “Flare (CME)” pushes things even further into experimental territory. Built on spontaneity and minimal rules, it feels raw and unfiltered, as if you’re hearing the band think in real time. The song’s swirling electronics and layered sounds mirror its lyrical core—love as something intense, lingering, almost blinding. It’s an unconventional but fitting ending, proving that Bae Baracus thrive when they let instinct lead. Between 2 Worlds may be brief, but it leaves a lasting impression.
