THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY! – JADE

GENRE: Pop/R&B

LABEL: RCA

REVIEWED: 23rd September, 2025

RATING: 7.4/10

Jade’s debut solo full-length pivots hard toward theatrical pop: equal parts big-room production, electro-clash attitude and campy, late-night disco flair. The record arrives as a carefully staged reinvention — a former Little Mix front-woman stepping off the conveyor belt and into a persona that’s knowingly glamorous, occasionally messy, and frequently entertaining. The album’s official listing and track order are available on major streaming platforms.

The production favours glossy synths, punchy club beats and occasional flourishes of old-school disco — think Giorgio Moroder textures rubbed up against modern electro-pop maximalism. That mix gives JADE room to switch moods from claustrophobic, intimate lines to big, brassy choruses; when the record leans into its pop-camp, it sounds knowingly theatrical rather than accidental. Several reviewers noticed this genre-blending and the record’s front-loaded “bangers.”

“Angel Of My Dreams” opens with a sharp, hooky statement of intent and has already been rolled out as a lead single; it shows Jade’s knack for marrying confessional lyrics to pop frames. Tracks like “FUFN (Fuck You For Now)” and “IT girl” supply the record’s snarling, fiesty moments, while songs such as “Fantasy” and “Unconditional” explore disco and more tender territory. The album’s sequencing gives listeners several immediate singles before moving into more experimental or reflective territory.

Lyrically the album oscillates between industry satire, personal vulnerability and sex-positive storytelling. Jade doesn’t hide the record’s showbiz subject matter — fame, contractual nonsense, and the emotional costs of pop life appear as recurring motifs. That candidness, at times scathing and at other times playful, is one of the album’s strengths: it feels like a pop star reworking the rules rather than merely repeating them.

The project features notable collaborators and producers (names like RAYE, Lostboy, Cirkut and others appear in press and store writeups) and has been supported by a strong visual campaign including an official visualiser and a catalogue of singles and videos. Jade has also announced a headline tour to bring this material to stages — the record has been promoted across mainstream outlets and streaming services.

Early press has been broadly positive: critics praise JADE’s audacity, the record’s theatrical ambitions and the way she reclaims pop-star tropes into something personal and idiosyncratic, even if a few experiments don’t always land. If you enjoy pop that wears its persona on its sleeve — big hooks, slippery synths and lyrics that wink and bite in equal measure — THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY! delivers a confident, occasionally chaotic solo statement that promises interesting live shows and more ambitious turns to come.
