JCRACKER’s “QUEEN MISERY” feels less like a song and more like something pulled straight out of a personal journal. From the first listen, I got the sense that this wasn’t written to impress anyone, it was written because it had to be. Knowing it was recorded at home using Soniva just adds to that feeling. It’s rough around the edges, but in a way that makes it more real, not less.
The lyrics are what stayed with me the most. You can tell this comes from a very specific place, his past relationship and it doesn’t try to hide how messy and painful that experience was. One line that really stayed with me sums up the emotional core of the track: “Misery! I fell in love with Queen Misery, the master of lies, the mind player, drama. Chess player with my mind!!! Misery! You are misery!” It’s raw and direct, perfectly capturing the confusion and emotional grip at the heart of the song. There’s no sugarcoating here. It’s honest, sometimes uncomfortable, but that’s exactly why it works. It feels like someone telling their truth without worrying about how it sounds, and that kind of openness is rare.
What I also found interesting is how JCRACKER uses AI for the music and vocals while keeping the lyrics completely his own. He’s upfront about not being a singer, and instead of that holding him back, he’s found a way to still bring his words to life. The production might not be flashy, but it supports the story well enough to let the message come through clearly.
After decades of writing, this track feels like a turning point for him. “QUEEN MISERY” isn’t trying to be perfect—it’s trying to be honest, and it succeeds. For me, it’s the kind of song you appreciate more the more you sit with it, especially if you’ve ever gone through something similar.
