Louise Harrison’s Blame it on the Moon, comes across as the kind of album made by someone who genuinely loves what she’s doing. The music doesn’t try too hard or lean into dramatic effects; instead, it feels warm, steady and honest. From the first track, you get the sense that Harrison is simply sharing pieces of her life in the most natural way she knows how, without pretending or pushing for anything grand.

The album mixes six of her own songs with five covers, and that blend actually works in her favor.  You can hear her personality most clearly in the originals, but the covers show how comfortably she settles into other people’s writing too. Songs like “ Make You feel My Love, Lost in Between, Chasing Rainbows, Angel and Don’t Dream its over “ gives you a genuine feeling that resonates deeply with your soul. The whole thing was recorded at Red Door Studios with Dave Keary and Denis Carey, and the production is the sort that doesn’t shout for attention, just gentle instruments, clean vocals and enough space around everything to let it breathe.

Harrison’s background explains a lot about how she approaches these songs. She has distinctions in vocal performance from Trinity College London, plus degrees in ethnomusicology, music, English and journalism. And beyond the academic side, she has spent years performing in all kinds of settings — at Bunratty Castle, singing at weddings and touring with Anúna. All of that seems to show up in the way she sings: calm, practiced and with a kind of quiet confidence that doesn’t feel forced.

Compared to her earlier album Dream, this one feels more settled, almost like she’s clearer about what she wants to say. None of the tracks feel rushed or overpolished. It’s an album you listen to when you want something genuine, something that feels made by a real person with real experiences rather than someone chasing trends. It’s simple, sincere and very easy to sit with, the kind of music that grows on you in a gentle, steady way.
