Love can take time to work out and “All My Mind Is On You” by NBP Human is a song that explores the realisation that someone may have been the one great love of your life all along. It’s a song about memory, about feeling and about reflection. It’s the realisation that you look back and you see the importance of a relationship which you may have completely missed at the time.

Rather than presenting love as a simple thing, the song is very much about the mixture of happiness and quiet yearning that comes with such a realisation. There’s something very human about realising how important a person is only after the fact. That’s what gives the song its pull really, it’s an invitation to all of us to think about our own experiences of love, of missed opportunities and of the feelings that you can still have long after the situation has changed.

Hope is also very much part of the song’s message. It’s a song about looking back and yet it doesn’t just stop at that. It allows for the possibility that the relationship might still have something to give. There’s a real tension there between the reality of the past and the potential of the future. It’s a very effective emotional contrast, recognising the importance of the past without in any way ruling out a different future. Love is something that you can come to understand with time.

“All My Mind Is On You” is about the value of connection and the way that once you’ve made a connection you can see it in a different light. It’s a very human observation about love and the way we can look back on a relationship and see it differently. It’s a very personal piece from NBP Human which is at the same time very universally applicable and leaves you with a quiet little nudge that the real difficulty sometimes isn’t actually finding love, it’s realising that it’s there when it appears.
