I didn’t expect “Games We Play” by Trashy Annie to stick with me the way it did. I threw it on out of curiosity and then caught myself replaying it later, and then again the next day. That usually tells me everything. This song lives in that uncomfortable space where you know better but don’t actually do better. It reminds me of those relationships where you’re fully aware things are bad, yet somehow you’re still answering the call, still walking back into the same mess. There’s no pretending here, no fake romance. It just sounds like chaos you recognize.

The thing that really sold me is how restless the track feels. It doesn’t glide, it doesn’t ease you in, it kind of shoves you forward. That nervous, impatient energy feels real to me. I’ve been in situations where emotions were louder than logic, and this song captures that exact feeling. The push and pull. The “this is a terrible idea” moment followed immediately by doing it anyway. It doesn’t wrap things up nicely or pretend there’s growth at the end. Sometimes there isn’t. Sometimes it’s just desire, damage, repeat. And I respect the song for being honest about that.

As for Trashy Annie, this feels like a band doing what they do best — telling stories that aren’t pretty. Annie Davis sounds confident without trying too hard, and that outlaw-country mixed with rock grit gives the song teeth. I can already picture this being insane live, probably louder and rougher than the studio version. I’ll give the song a thumbs up Not because it’s perfect, but because it feels true. And honestly, songs that feel true tend to last longer for me than the ones trying to impress.
