The New Citizen Kane turns inward on FREE TO FEEL, an electronic pop EP that explores self-discovery, authenticity and the courage to question familiar ways of thinking. Serving as the first release in the four-part PSYCHEDELIKA Pt.2 project, the record introduces an artist increasingly interested in making music feel like an extension of a wider artistic world. Synth-pop melodies, electronic production and cinematic atmosphere give the seven-track set a polished identity, while its themes invite listeners to examine how instinct, emotion and outside influences shape their understanding of themselves.

“Dream Logic” sets the tone with an intriguing meditation on perception, creating an entry point into Kane’s exploration of intuition and subconscious thought. From there, “Metallic” injects the project with a rush of nighttime energy, encouraging listeners to abandon hesitation and embrace emotional freedom. “Into My Heart” brings a more intimate dimension to the experience, focusing on vulnerability and the willingness to open up. The progression from uncertainty toward emotional acceptance gives the opening stretch a natural sense of movement without sacrificing its upbeat character.

Kane’s perspective becomes more pointed on “Ugly Alligator,” where the focus shifts toward conformity and the pressures surrounding individuality within the music industry. “What’s Real?” widens the lens further, questioning truth, information and the structures that influence contemporary life. The decision to reinterpret Gwen Stefani’s “What You Waiting For?” reinforces the EP’s message about taking action, while the acoustic version of “Metallic” provides a quieter conclusion that exposes a more intimate side of the project.

FREE TO FEEL also benefits from Kane’s multidisciplinary approach. With a background encompassing theatre, visual art and performance, he treats each release as part of an interconnected creative environment rather than an isolated musical product. The accompanying visual films strengthen that concept, giving the songs another dimension through imagery and narrative. As the starting point of PSYCHEDELIKA Pt.2, this EP establishes an intriguing direction for what follows, presenting The New Citizen Kane as an independent artist using electronic pop to examine identity, freedom, uncertainty and the human instinct to keep searching for meaning.
