FORRM’s live performance in NYC (held at the Museum of Arts & Design on 12.12.24) is characterised by the combination of experimental rock, moving images and contemporary art. The album, which was recorded in December 2024, records a concert in which the music goes beyond the usual limits of a live recording; its importance is due to the connection between the sound and the visual environment accompanying the performance, as it preserves an event conceived to bring together different artistic forms in a common space.

Nomad’s Prayer makes up a major element of the album and relates the concert to the film PATH. This piece was included in a more extensive audiovisual experience in which images from the film and other visual material were projected directly in front of the musicians. The visuals were triggered and altered in real time during the performance, establishing an ever-changing connection between what the audience heard and what they saw. By doing this, the recorded performance acquires a wider context since its musical content is linked to the moving images that were shown with it.

Use of live instruments and improvisation was a key element of the concert’s creative approach, enabling the music and the visual elements to interact in the same setting. Instead of keeping the performance separate from its environment, the show united the musicians, the projected images and the venue as part of one artistic experience. Moreover, Nomad’s Prayer links the concert to Into the Vortex, a digital artwork created from the performance sequence, showing how material from the event could assume new forms beyond the initial presentation.

The performance captured by FORRM LIVE IN NYC is presented again through WRTN Music and serves as a link between live music and cinematic expression. The fact that it is being reissued corresponds with the decision to select the concert film for the 2026 Psychedelic Film and Music Festival in New York, thus bringing fresh attention to the recorded performance. For those listeners who are interested in experimental rock being shown in an audiovisual context, this album provides a record of a performance in which sound, imagery and contemporary art come together.
