DreamGood’s Paris Novella is presented as an imaginative concept album which examines the contradictions of human experience via unusual storytelling and an adventurous art-pop style. The record shifts from feelings of love, frustration, confidence, insecurity, chaos and calm, thus forming a continually changing emotional atmosphere in which reality overlaps with surreal imagination. The fictional world centres on Paris Novella, a fortune teller whose enigmatic identity links together the themes of desire, self-discovery and uncertainty. Instead of pursuing one particular emotional path, the album adopts opposing viewpoints and encourages the listener to enter a world in which unpredictability is an integral part of the experience.
Beginning with “Spaceman,” creating an unapologetic atmosphere with explosive art-pop, bold self-presentation and clear sexuality. “Looking for Love” then looks at the elusive character of romance by means of soft-funk synth-pop, conveying the restless search for affection. “Lifeline” deals with intuition and the uncertainties of human existence, while “All the Animals” addresses the beauty and brutality of being alive through an honest ballad informed by soul and alt-country influences. The contrast between these tracks shows a convincing balance between playful confidence and vulnerable introspection.
In “Strangers” the issue of identity becomes more and more important, the song looking at the hidden aspects of oneself that people have difficulty in admitting, and “Ghost Letter”, an experimental hip-hop alt-pop piece directed at one’s younger self. “Never Been to Paris” fuses French house, Italo disco, synth-pop and indie dance with a punk edge, thus widening the album’s musical range. “Psychic TV” on the other hand presents a frustrated psychic helpline and brings a sense of humour to the record’s preoccupation with forecasting the future. “Sex and Support” explores romance via soft-funk synth-pop, while “Kingdom of Fear” questions the traditional views concerning innocence, rebellion and human imperfection.

The later tracks continue the album’s investigation into destiny, fear and personal transformation, with “Destiny” looking at the idea of once again trusting life and “Love Will Scare You” looking at the uneasy connection between intimacy and fear. “Kings” expands on the scope already established at the beginning of the track, and “Illuminate” evolves from a simple opening into a more active electronic groove. Taken together, these twelve tracks show that Paris Novella has created an adventurous concept album which combines introspection, eccentricity and dance-oriented energy within a fictional world of unpredictable emotions.
