Madeline Rosene’s new single, Love and Algorhythms, is both clever and surprisingly emotional. It kicks off with a glitchy 8-bit riff that feels playful but slightly unsettling, then layers in soft acoustic guitars, synths, and electric riffs. Produced by Patrick Windsor, the song dives into the weirdness of modern relationships, how algorithms sometimes seem to know your partner better than you do. It’s funny, a little sad, and totally relatable.
Love and Algorhythms balances humor and honesty, examining what Rosene calls the odd grief of being known by an algorithm. Rosene nails this balance, making the song feel honest without ever being heavy-handed.

The claymation video, made with her brother Jack Hubbell, is just as charming. Seeing a clay version of Rosene doomscroll endlessly while her partner tries to pull her back to reality is both funny and touching. Choosing clay over digital effects adds a human touch, which fits perfectly with the song’s message about real connection versus screens.
If you like Fiona Apple, St. Vincent, or Regina Spektor, you’ll feel at home here. Love and Algorhythms is playful, thoughtful, and full of little details that stick with you. It’s the kind of song you can listen to over and over and still catch something new each time.
