The song ‘End Of The Day’ by CAR287 gives off a cheerful atmosphere around a simple and very understandable concept: discovering the person who makes life feel whole. Although it lasts just over three minutes, it sticks to its theme of connection and companionship without making the message too complicated. The song immediately establishes its character through a memorable guitar riff, and the part that encourages people to sing along brings about a sense of ease and familiarity that makes it appealing right from the first hearing. It is a direct love song with a bright and accessible character.
The guitar is given a leading role and is backed by keys which contribute an extra dimension to the track’s vibrant personality. The refrain is crafted in such a way that it stays in the listener’s mind, producing a kind of catchy phrase that becomes familiar quite quickly with a few hearings. Instead of relying on heavy sentimentality, CAR287 maintains an cheerful atmosphere, so that “End Of The Day” comes across more like a celebration of being with someone special. The message is simple, but this simplicity benefits the song.
Since 2022 the five-piece group from Winnipeg has gradually refined its sound through original recordings and by keeping a busy live performance schedule. After releasing their self-titled EP in 2022 they put out the 13-track album ‘Looking Through the Lens’ in 2025 before starting to work on a new five-song EP. ‘End Of The Day’ is the first single from that upcoming project and was recorded at CTRL Space Records in Winnipeg; the song also shows that the band is used to presenting its material directly to audiences, something which has been a key aspect of its recent experience.
The live performance is especially clear in the reaction mentioned in connection with “End Of The Day”, since the audience dance, smile and sing along as the band plays it. The song’s guitar riff and catchy chorus give it a kind of immediacy which can easily be transferred from a recording to a large hall. CAR287 has achieved a good balance between sincere subject matter and an energetic stage presence, so that “End Of The Day” becomes a warm and accessible piece in the band’s expanding collection and a welcoming first song on its forthcoming EP.
